Looking at a map of Texas, the eastern half appears full and the western half empty. I made these photographs while living briefly in the empty half. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the expansive, often lonely landscape of the west half of the state; isolated small towns loosely strung together by ranch roads, the remains of frontier forts in between.
